APPEAL joined the 5th Pink&Green conference in Milan, an event dedicated to circular economy, female-led innovation and the hidden value of food.

On 18 June 2026, the APPEAL project was presented in Milan during the 5th Pink&Green conference, La parola alle donne dell’economia circolare – “Food Revolution: il valore nascosto del cibo”, organised by the editorial team of GreenPlanner.

The event was conceived as a moment of in-depth discussion and exchange dedicated to circular economy and female-led innovation, with a specific focus on the agri-food sector. It brought together women active in research, institutions, industry and civil society to discuss the future of food systems from different perspectives.

The discussion explored some of the key challenges shaping the sector, including the valorisation of agri-food by-products, the reduction of food waste, circular bioeconomy approaches and new models for turning waste into value.

The programme also addressed broader topics such as the “Cradle to Cradle” approach applied to food, the role of bioeconomy in giving new life to food by-products, future regulatory perspectives linked to the Circular Economy Act, zero-waste practices and social initiatives against food waste.

Within this context, APPEAL contributed to the conversation by presenting its work on innovative solutions for a more sustainable agri-food sector, with particular attention to the role of packaging, labelling and research-based innovation in supporting more circular, informed and responsible value chains.

Taking part in Pink&Green conference allowed APPEAL to connect its research perspective with a broader debate on how innovation, sustainability and circular thinking can help reveal and preserve the hidden value of food.
